       Nanhang Jincheng College was jointly established by Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics(NUAA) and social forces and was approved by former China National Aviation Industry Corporation and Education Committee of Jiangsu Province as a state-owned-but-privately-run subordinate college in 1999. The college was transformed into an independent college, approved by the Ministry of Education in 2004.


       NUAA, on which Nanhang Jincheng College has been relying, enjoys a well-balanced development of multiple disciplines in engineering, management, science, economics, literature, law, arts, etc. with the characteristics of Aeronautics, Astronautics and Civil Aviation. NUAA is among the first batch of national key universities entitled to award doctoral degree and master's degree. It is one of the 55 universities with graduate school in China, and it has also been listed as one of the "National Project 211" universities.NUAA is responsible for ensuring the teaching quality of Nanhang Jincheng College and guiding its school-running orientation, program improvement, faculty development and students’ educational administration.


       Nanhang Jincheng College is located in Jiangning Economic Development Zone in Nanjing, around 3 kilometers away from Nanjing Lukou International Airport. The college is also adjacent to Metro Line Six, which is under construction. The College has an enrollment of over 12,000 students. The infrastructure on the campus is scientifically planned and the supporting service facilities are complete. It covers an area of 856 mu(141 acres) with an overall floorage of more than 300,000 square meters, over 25,000 square meters of which are allotted to laboratories. The laboratories possess 6300 units of first-class and advanced equipment. The new 28,700-square-meter library is intelligent, modern, and excellently functional. It has a rich collection of books and can accommodate 6,000 students simultaneously.


       The college consists of 12 teaching units, including the following ten departments, Experimental Center and Lifelong Education School: Department of Mechatronical Engineering, Department of Information Engineering, Department of Automation, Department of English, Department of Economics, Department of Management, Department of Civil Aviation, Department of Art, and Department of Civil Engineering. It has 30 bachelor's programs. The college has a professional teaching staff with professors from NUAA and other prestigious universities as leading scholars. Combined with teachers of NUAA, the college has developed a strong team of full-time teachers. On top of this, the college attaches great importance to international exchange and cooperation with universities in the United States, Britain, Australia and other countries.


       Based on the requirement of regional development and industry development , the college conducts innovations in education pattern, strengthens the practice teaching, boosts the teaching reform and cultivates applied talents with high quality. The college implements the concept of teaching according to students' abilities by practising graded teaching of Advanced Mathematics and College English, selecting students for the intensive mechanical class and electrical class, and offering a multi-channel mode of talent training. Attributed to the innovations, it can provide the students with adequate space for their full development in knowledge, abilities and qualities. A large number of excellent students stand out for their great performance in various national and provincial contests. The number of winners and awarded levels, the graduate employment rate, postgraduate admission rate, and studying abroad rate is on top among the independent colleges. The college enjoys a high reputation in society. Its graduate employment rate in 2011 was 96.65%. In 2012, the rate amounted to 97.03%. 92.94% of the 2012 session signed three party (work unit, school and student) employment agreements.  


       In 2010, Nanhang Jincheng College was awarded the honorary title of " National Innovation Model ( the First Session)" and "Advanced Independent College". In November 2011, the College was granted the honorary title of “The Most Popular Independent College”. In April 2012, Jiangsu Branch of China Academy of Non-government Education settled down at Nanhang Jincheng College, an outstanding representative of the twenty-six independent colleges in Jiangsu.
